Smiles.

Pp_blog_nov04Saturday was the perfect November afternoon to capture Megan, Greg & baby Audrey. Quite possibly the happiest baby we have ever met - baby Audrey smiled and smiled and smiled and - well, she smiled some more. Perfectly. There is no snow yet - eventhough it was pretty chilly. Really chilly. These guys were so fun and such a treat to spend time with - I left with a bit of a crush on them and the happiness that seems to just glow amongst their small family.

All smiles. To take a look through they gallery - it's the SOBIE Gallery and it can be found at the right in the gallery listing.

Thanks guys. You were very, very good sports.

Happy.

Pp_blog_oct28Last night, we got to enjoy the company of Kim, Chuck, Carmen and baby Ella. Beautiful. The weather is still cooperating, but a little too chilly to trek too far with a 5 month old. No problem. These guys were easy and happy to roll with the punches of shooting in and around their own home.

That's happy. We were happy, too (because they FED US!). Thanks guys. Great to see you.

Shhhh....

Pp_blog_oct27Shhh... the babies are coming. I'm quietly working on a new section that will offer some new and cool packages for the new year. Look for this stuff to be posted sometime towards the middle of November.

Pure colour.

Pp_blog_oct18There is something unbelievably powerful about colour. I find it can make a shot twice as wonderful. Now that it's deep into Fall, I didn't think we would be able to find vibrant reds, pinks and oranges in natural settings. Was I wrong. We stumbled into a secret garden full of colours and the most amazing whimsical feeling... it was magical. Shannon, Donovan and baby Zoe were perfect. The light was perfect. The colours...

Well, they were perfect, too.

Check out the KROEKER gallery for yourself. You can find their gallery in the long list to the right. Colour.

Red umbrella.

Pp_blog_oct16cThis family was so much fun. They were great sports because it was RAINING. The red umbrella we picked up on the way to the shoot turned out to be a pretty essential piece - and little Evan sure liked it.

What I liked about these guys - was their smiles. Dan, beautifully 5 months pregnant Steph and little Evan just rolled with the punches and tromped all over the Exchange District with us. Did I mention it was raining?

They are the SKAKUN gallery. Seen in the link to the right.

Pace car.

Pp_blog_oct11I'm learning that in every shoot - the timing is different. Everyone has their own natural rhythm. AND every group has it's pace car. This little man was it. I really like the colours in this photo of the pace car and his grandma. We ran around the yard after this dynamo - and he turned out to be the perfect pace car indeed. Fast. But, good.

Thanks to everyone for making it fun and helping me keep up to the two really cute little dudes from last night.

Take a glimpse of their shoot in the ANDERSON album. To the right.

Us.

Pp_blog_oct10I wanted a gallery, too. I wanted to be captured in pictures like all of these other very pretty galleries. So off we went - tripod in hand on a very, very cold day to a few of our favourite spots. On our anniversary. Just like a year ago - we didn't know what we'd end up with - but, in life - you never do...  it turned out to be better than we hoped and exactly what we wanted. It was fun being on the other side of the lens for a change, too.

This is us - all three of us. The Kostenchuk gallery to the right.

Laughing.

Pp_blog_oct6I am secretly pleased when I manage to catch a shot of someone in a full-out laugh. I am. Most of the time - the person being photographed isn't as impressed as I seem to be - but, to me - you are so beautiful when you are laughing... when you're smiling... when you're just being in that moment.

These guys were so much fun. It was fun to rediscover some familiar places through their eyes. By the end of the shoot - the two non-pictures people (the boys) were really getting into it and spotting locations all on their own. VERY cool. Thank you.

It just fits.

Pp_blog_oct5I like people that fit together. These guys - just fit. They're smart and young and happy and easy going. I like that.

I also like remembering that these photos - aren't about perfection or posing or costumes or perfect pets. They ARE about seeing something in the moment that we are together.

Thanks guys. You look GREAT. See the CRANSTON-PUCHNIAK gallery for proof. Here.

Posing for pictures.

Pp_blog_oct2One of the things I love about being behind the camera - is to watch a family interact naturally. It's a real privilege to experience. This beautiful family - I just really like them. They've been good to me and I felt double-lucky to be a part of a quick photo shoot with them last night. It was WINDY, but it's Fall on the prairies and that's how it goes. I like that.

I don't pose people in my shoots - because I don't like people to look posed. I like it when their faces and bodies and family language fits together just how it's supposed to. I like big smiles and laughter. I like it when their hair is moving and their faces are in the moment. Too cool.

The CHIPMAN gallery is up at the right. Or click here. Thanks guys - that was SO much fun.
